So did NIN get it right? I don’t know, but this seems to be the best method in my opinion. Why? Taking the words from Scott Sigler, it is just like crack; you give them samples to get them hooked, then you offer the good stuff for a price and they are willing to pay. On top of that, they have options for the super fans. I plan on downloading the free “sample” and if I like it, I’ll be buying the 2 CD set.

While the site is down, you can still purchase the complete Ghosts I-IV here from Amazon’s MP3 store for only $5. The MP3s are high quality and DRM-free. You can also order the deluxe and limited edition packages from Artist in Residence.

Let’s leave it as I had a protected childhood in the country. But yet another 80’s band is getting ready to release a new album.

NEW YORK (Billboard) – It’s been more than 15 years since the original lineup of groundbreaking British rock act Gang of Four has released new material, but the foursome has been busy since getting back together to rerecord old tracks for 2005’s “Return the Gift.”

The crew has been working on and off in guitarist Andy Gill’s London studio to complete a set for self-release this year.

It seems they are thinking about doing it right. Maybe Michael Butler can get a hold o70f them so we can play the music on our shows.

“We might be releasing the first single or four songs for free on the Internet, or on vinyl, or both, and just see what the marketplace is like,” Allen said. “We’re trying to energize the base, and we know that we’re dealing with an enormous group of new and younger fans.”

I am guessing the kids have grown up for all of these old 70’s and 80’s bands and now these guys are finding too much spare time on their hands.

He took over the charts, now rap superstar 50 Cent will take over MTV CRIBS in an all-new episode devoted to his 17-acre Connecticut estate and provide additional rare access to his home through exclusive MTV.com web content. Premiering November 29th at 10:30p.m., 50 will go from P.I.M.P. to V.I.P., as he gives the ultimate tour to his 19-bedroom mansion, the surrounding grounds and enlists his recording crew G-Unit to help with the hosting duties. Viewers can simultaneously log onto MTV.com for in-depth, one-of-a-kind online footage of 50 as he takes site visitors into unseen rooms and gives info on some of his favorite items in the house. 50 fans hungry for more will be able to tune-in to MTV2 for an encore airing of the special episode airing December 2nd at 3p.m.

Once owned by boxing legend Mike Tyson, 50’s estate sits on 17.6-acres of Connecticut land, has 19 bedrooms and 35 bathrooms.
